Privacy

What NTA holds, who else touches it, and what you can do about it.

NTA is a private community platform run by Skella & Co Pty Ltd in Australia. Membership is by invite. This page covers the website at nta.gg and the NTA apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux.

The short version

NTA runs no third party trackers, no analytics, and no advertising. Nothing you do here is sold, shared for marketing, or used to build a profile of you. The data NTA holds is the data the community needs to work, and it is held by a small number of named suppliers listed further down.

What NTA holds

Your account

An email address, or a Discord identity if you signed in that way. Sign in works by a link sent to your email, so a password is never stored.

Your profile

A username, a display name, and anything else you choose to add. An avatar, pronouns, a short bio, a location, a link, and handles for Steam, GOG, Epic, PlayStation or Xbox. All of it is optional apart from the username, and every field is visible to other members.

What you post

Threads, replies, reactions, and any images or files you attach. Visible to the members who can see the topic it sits in.

Direct messages

Private to the two people in them and to nobody else through the app. That is enforced by access rules on the database, the same arrangement Discord and most mainstream chat run on.

Presence

The time you were last seen, so the member list can show who is around. On the desktop apps there is a setting that reads which games are running on your computer and shows the name to other members. It is a switch you control, and nothing is recorded when it is off.

Settings and moderation records

Your notification choices, which topics and threads you have muted, and which members you have blocked. Admin actions such as a ban or a timeout are written to a moderation log, which admins can see.

What NTA does not do

No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
No analytics product, first party or third party.
No tracking pixels. A picture from a host we do not run is shown as a link you choose to open rather than loaded on sight, so nobody learns your address by posting an image. The one exception is a GIF from the picker, which loads from the provider's own network the way every GIF picker does.
No selling or renting of member data, under any circumstances.
No profiling, scoring, or automated decisions about you.

Who else touches it

Every supplier below is here because something would not work without it. None of them are advertising businesses.

Supabase	The database, sign in, and file storage. Everything above is stored here.
Vercel	Serves the website and the app.
LiveKit	Carries voice while you are in a room. Audio passes through and is not recorded.
Resend	Sends sign in links, the daily digest, and notification email.
Discord	Optional sign in. Used only if you choose it.
Klipy	Searches GIFs when you open the picker. Your search text goes to them; who you are does not.
YouTube	Plays a video when somebody posts one. The privacy preserving embed is used where it works.
song.link	Turns a music link into a card that names the track.
emoji.gg	Browsed by admins when adding emotes. Ordinary members never reach it.

When a member posts a link, NTA fetches that page once to build the preview card. That request comes from our servers rather than your browser, so the site being linked never sees you.

The desktop apps

The Windows, macOS and Linux apps hold the same data as the website, plus a few things that only make sense on a computer you own. The phone apps hold the same data as the website and nothing extra.

The microphone is opened only while you are in a voice room, and closed when you leave.
Game presence reads the names of games running on your machine, and only when you have turned that setting on.
Updates are checked against a file on nta.gg. The check sends nothing about you.
Window position, unread counts and your settings are kept on your own machine.

How long it is kept

Posts and messages stay until they are deleted. Deleting something puts it out of sight immediately and holds it for twenty four hours before it goes for good, so an accident can be undone by an admin inside that window. After that it is gone, along with anything attached to it.

Deleting your account is a button in the app, under Your data and leaving in the settings menu. Nothing happens for twenty four hours, and inside that day it can be called off. After it, your profile, your email address, your avatar, your settings and every direct message you sent are erased. Your threads and replies stay where the room can read them with your name off them, unless you ask for them to come down too. The whole thing is written out here.

What you can do

Edit or delete anything you have posted.
Change or clear any profile field, including your email address.
Turn off game presence, mute topics and threads, and block members.
Choose which notifications reach you, and unsubscribe from digest email from the email itself.
Take a copy of everything NTA holds about you, as one file, from the same settings screen.
Delete your account, in the app or in the browser, without asking anybody.

If you are in Australia, the UK, the European Union or another place with its own privacy law, the rights that law gives you apply here, and the same address reaches us.

Children

NTA is not for children. Members arrive by invite from an existing member and the community is an adult one.

Security. Everything here is protected by access rules on the database, so a member can only read what their membership allows, and a direct message reaches nobody but its two participants. No system is perfect, and if something ever goes wrong in a way that affects you, you will be told rather than managed.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, it will be said in the community rather than slipped in without a word.
